St. Thomas Man Charged with Grand Larceny

A 50-year-old St. Thomas man was arrested Monday and charged with grand larceny, the V.I. Police reported.

According to the police report, at about 3:58 p.m. Monday police arrested Ashmore Hyndman Jr. of Estate Bovoni and charged him in a theft.

Police said Hyndman was observed on video surveillance stealing more than $7,000 in used car batteries from a business on April 1.

Bail for Hyndman was set at $20,000 by order of the Superior Court. Unable to post bail, he was turned over to the custody of the Bureau of Corrections pending his advice of rights hearing.

Police urged anyone with information about this incident to call 911, the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 340-774-2211 ex. 5610, or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-8477.
