Police Seize More Guns as Part of Crime Initiative

Phase 2 of the Virgin Islands Crime Initiative resulted in arrests and confiscations on St. Thomas and St. Croix, the police reported in a news release issued Wednesday.

At 2:14 a.m. Tuesday, officers on St. Croix, arrested Robert Mason, age 44 of Little Princesse, charging him with possession of an unlicensed firearm. He was found at a gas station with a gun on his person, police said.

That afternoon on St. Thomas, officers of the Ten-Day Rush Initiative arrested 24-year-old Shamoi Allamby of Santa Maria, charging him with possession of an unlicensed firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition after being found at a gas station with a firearm with a conversion kit and an extended magazine, according to the VIPD.

Bail for Mason was set at $50,000, while bail for Allamby was set at $25,000. Neither of the men were able to post bail, and both were turned over to the Bureau of Corrections pending their advice of rights hearings.
