MBW Cafe and Bakery Launches ‘Pay it Forward’ Program to Help Those in Need

MBW Cafe and Bakery launches Pay It Forward program (submitted photo)

During its COVID-19 response efforts, My Brother’s Workshop (MBW) was able to prepare and serve 37,923 meals to the vulnerable community members on St. Thomas, St. John and St. Croix. The Meals on Wheels program has ended; however, there are still people in the community in need of assistance.

With their new “Pay it Forward” program, MBW supporters will be able to purchase meal vouchers that are valid for one meal from MBW Cafe and Bakery. These vouchers make a great gift for friends, employees or to be given to someone in need of a meal for any reason.

Donors may direct where the “Pay It Forward” vouchers will go. You may distribute them on your own, or MBW can distribute them to those they identify as in need through local churches, organizations working with the homeless and other community partners. In addition to helping the community by providing meals to those in need, this will also allow MBW to maintain its current training program in the cafe and bakery, where they work with at-risk youth ages 16-24, through mentoring, counseling, education, on-the-job training and job placement.

Given the current situation of the COVID-19 pandemic, MBW Cafe and Bakery has implemented some new rules and regulations for the staff and customers. It asks that anyone coming to the cafe and bakery help keep the customers and staff safe by adhering to the following guidelines:

Masks or face coverings must be worn at all times by staff and customers. Please make sure to have a mask on before entering the premises.

Social distancing (maintaining a distance of six feet or more from anyone not in your family) must be practiced at all times while on the premises.

My Brother’s Workshop encourages its customers to call ahead to place orders (715-2767) to minimize the number of people at the cafe at all times.

The ordering and pick-up area is located at the Bakery Square parking lot entrance.

Take away orders only

The new menu along with the daily specials can be viewed at https://www.facebook.com/mbwcafeandbakery/menu/.
