Schneider Regional Medical Center Treats Gunshot Victim

A man was treated Tuesday night for gunshot injuries he received while walking in the Anna’s Retreat area of St. Thomas, the V.I. Police Department reported.

According to police, at 8:23 p.m. Tuesday, officers, responding to a call of shots fired in Anna’s Retreat, in the vicinity of the Alvin McBean Recreational Complex. The 911 emergency call center subsequently received a report of a gunshot victim who arrived at the Schneider Regional Medical Center.

The male gunshot victim, whose name was not released in accordance with department policy, told officers that two men opened fire on him while he was walking in the Anna’s Retreat area.

He said the men, dressed in black, walked toward him holding a firearm. The victim said the men opened fire and he took evasive action to avoid injury. He said he felt pain in his foot and realized he had been shot. The victim stated he did not know who shot him or why he was shot. The suspects are still at large.

Detectives urge everyone with information to call 911, the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 340-774-2211 extension 5610, or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-8477 (1-800-222-TIPS).
