The Virgin Islands Police Department advises that during the 2026 St. John Celebration, Mongoose Junction (Route 20) to Northshore will be closed to traffic at 8 a.m. until the completion of the parade. Parking will be available in the public parking lot in the gravel pit.
According to a release, individuals traveling to St. John on all public ferries must be prepared to present current government identification before boarding, in keeping with US Coast Guard Maritime Law. Random searches will be conducted. No weapons, to include firearms, will be allowed on any public ferry, except for law enforcement personnel or retired law enforcement.
Other important information to note include:
- No selling of alcoholic beverages to minors. Vendors are encouraged to check identification if in doubt.
- No smoking or vaping of any kind will be allowed (to include the rear of the booths).
- Car doors should be locked and any valuables should be secured and out of sight.
- Parking in well-lit areas is encouraged.
- Driving under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol is prohibited.
- Walking in groups is suggested.
- Keep awareness of one’s surroundings.
- Limit the amount of jewelry worn.
- If anyone finds a lost child or loses a child, they should notify the nearest law enforcement officer.
In addition, parents/guardians are advised to write their name and phone number on a piece of paper and place it in their child’s pocket along with the child’s name, the release stated.
The VIPD advises that law enforcement officers will be assigned to patrol the inside and the outside of every event.
