Congresswoman Plaskett, a member of the House Ways and Means, Budget and Agriculture Committees, released the following statement following the Biden-Harris Administration’s announcement of the Student Loan Repayment Pause Extension:

“Yesterday, President Biden announced an extension of the pause on student loan payments until June 30, 2023, which will give the Supreme Court more time to make a decision regarding the student loan debt relief program this term. Payments will resume 60 days after the pause ends.

“I am grateful for the Biden-Harris Administration’s commitment to help middle-class federal student loan borrowers. I continue to remain hopeful that the courts will permit the U.S. Department of Education to implement the student debt relief program and allow us to make a significant step forward in the recovery of our nation.”
