Egbert Alexander Smith Jr. Dies at 75

Egbert Alexander Smith Jr.

Egbert Alexander Smith Jr., also known as “Eddie,” of Estate La Vallee died on Dec. 20. He was 75 years old.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Leona Smith; and his father, Egbert A. Smith Sr.

He is survived by his wife, Sherill Twitty-Smith; daughters: Tia M. Smith-Moss, Jada C. Powell, Danika R. Hood, Ebony Smith, Sherika Smith, Kyeisha Smith and Destiny Twitty-Smith; son, Egbert A. Smith III; grandchildren: Jeffrey Fleming Jr., Jazlynn Theodore, Je’Anna Theodore, Melody, Nathan and Noah Smith, Desire Devore, Sellassie James Jr., Ta’Ra Powell, Marques Dodson, Davere and Devin Creighton, Daviya Leggett, Darius Ben, Edward Hood Jr., Sasha Powell, Corey Allison Jr. and Chance Allison; mother-in-law, Zula Mae Twitty; great-grandchildren: Ezekiel Powell, Zayn Tinsley and Mia Green; sisters: Denise Smith-Scatliffe (Texas), Lorraine Moultrie (Texas), and Bernice Todman (N.Y.); and brothers: Mark Smith, Offley “Shama” Smith, Kenneth Todman and David Smith (Antigua).

He is also survived by nieces: Natasha and Sumiko Smith, Makeisha Smith and Christine Smith (aka “The Boss”), Jenell Moultrie and  Diedra Murray; nephews: Anthony Jr., Roy Jr., David, Mark II, Jamal Sr., Makeall and Allan Smith Sr., Kevin Scatliffe II, Jamell Moultrie, Khaleel Coleman, Jovan and Timere Carter, Lestie Jr., Robelto and John Murray; aunts: Inez Williams and Irene Prentice; great nieces and great nephews too numerous to mention; daughter-in-law, Anthea Smith; sons-in-law: Lang K. Moss and Edward J. Hood Sr.; brothers-in-law: Kelly and Gary Twitty, and Kevin Scatliffe; sisters-in-law: Cheryl Sealey-Smith, Sylvia Sajous and Janet Smith; godson, Enrique Wilkins; and special friends: Pepsy Wilkins, Darius Benjamin, Nayef Williams, Norman Francis, Richard Cornelius, Robert Joseph, Vaughn Hendricks, Rubio Lang, Juan Encarnacion Jr. (aka “Juanito”), Wilmoth Francis, George Knight, Otis Johannes, Desire Charles and Shawn Sobratae.

Other survivors include cousins: Leander, Rufina, Louis, Wilfred, Benneth, Eleanor and Edna Smith, Laverne E. Robles, Brenda Plaskett and family, Gloria, Clifford and Marilyn Joseph and family, Renne, Mario, Chantelle, Dwayne and Jenee Robles, Yolanda, Shermona and Donald III Robles, Vilma Gill-Johnson, Glenice, Sharon, Patrice, Raymond, Lyndell, Wayne Williams and Kenneth Jackson; other relatives and friends: Gerard Luz James and family, the Gill, Edney, Milligan, Petersen, Joseph, Stephens, Thomas, Cassimere, Brewster, Hector, Folkes, Carol Thompson and Smith families of St. John, St. Thomas and Tortola, the Williams family, Benjamin family, Robles family, and the Williams family of La Vallee, Vitran, Co-Workers of  Public Works, St. Croix Horseman Association, Lauralie Knight and family; as well as other friends and family on the Mainland and in the La Vallee Community.

The viewing will be held at 9 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 10 a.m., Friday, Jan. 12, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church Interment will be at Kingshill Cemetery.
