2024 Martin Luther King Basketball Tournament Gives Highlights

During an exciting weekend of basketball at the IAA/McDonald’s MLK Basketball Tournament on St. Thomas, the Ivanna Eudora Kean High School boys’ team clinched the title of Varsity Basketball Champions by defeating the Charlotte Amalie High School (CAHS) Hawks with a final score of 71-61.

The CAHS girls’ team participated in the Championship game against the Las Vegas Coral Academy of Science but fell short, concluding with a final score of 51-24. If anyone missed the games, visit the VIDE Facebook page to catch the dynamic championship games that were live streamed.

The tournament’s Most Valuable Players were Jayden Dixie for the boys and Riley Ladislao for the girls. Recognized for their sportsmanship were Bethel Birru for the girls and Guyma Plebe for the boys.

Commissioner Wells-Hedrington and Superintendent Stefan Jürgen, Ph.D., attended the games, cheering on the Virgin Islands student-athletes and presenting trophies and medals to the victorious teams. IAA/McDonald’s MLK Basketball Tournament extends heartfelt congratulations to all the athletes for their extraordinary efforts on the basketball court.
