The Virgin Islands National Archery Championships were held on Sunday, Jan. 7, at the Isaac Gatewood James Park in Frederiksted, St. Croix. The event was held in cooperation with the Department of Fish and Wildlife, the Department of Sports, Parks and Recreation, the St. Croix Archery Club and the Virgin Islands Archery Federation.

This competition was open to all archers.  Competitors participated under the rules of World Archery, and the National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP), Open and Para Archers.

Certificates and awards were distributed to all competitors.  On a windy day, two competitors were standouts, Nicholas D’Amour (Recurve Men) and Tatyana Muntyan (Recurve Women).  D’Amour and Muntyan won gold.

Competing in U-18, Goddess George demonstrated that she will be a serious competitor in the years to come.  Also competing in recurve were Whitney Frederick, Precious Laurent and Shmuel Williams.

Among others, Bevey Hill, Max Dale and Like Brownfield competed in Compound.
