St. Croix Man Now in Custody for Stabbing Incident

A St. Croix man has turned himself into the authorities for a stabbing incident that took place at a bar in Cane Bay, the V.I. Police Department reported.

The 911 Emergency Call Center received reports of a stabbing victim at the Sprat Net Bar in Cane Bay on Wednesday at about 5:16 p.m. Upon officers’ arrival, they observed the victim on the ground, bleeding from their injury, the police report stated.

Emergency Medical Services was present and transported the victim to the Juan F. Luis
Hospital for medical treatment. Investigation by members of the Criminal Investigation
Bureau disclosed that the victim was stabbed in the neck by Calvin N. Belle Jr., the report stated.

On Thursday, at about 2:20 p.m., Belle Jr. was present at the Wilbur H. Francis Command Police Station, along with his attorney, to turn himself in. Belle, 23, was placed under arrest for attempted murder and booked; however, he was granted to post $5,005 in bail to secure his release. His bail was posted and Belle Jr. was released to a third-party custodian pending his advice of rights hearing scheduled for Friday at the Superior Court, it said.
