The Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Program staff has fully transitioned to the new building at Hospital Ground on St. Thomas, the Virgin Islands Health Department announced.
As of Monday, the staff is no longer operating from its temporary office on Norre Gade. Additionally, all clients participating in the WIC program on St. Thomas have been notified of the final move to the new location, according to the press release.
The Health Department cut the ribbon on the newly constructed building in November and the WIC Program team has been working for the past several months to equip and furnish the breast-feeding room, teaching kitchen, training and conference areas, as well as its administrative spaces, the press release stated.
“We are grateful for our clients’ patience and understanding as we rebuilt the WIC facility following damages from hurricanes Irma and Maria,” said V.I. Health Commissioner Justa Encarnacion. “The new WIC building is finally fully furnished and equipped to support our staff and operations, and we are truly excited about serving our young mothers and children in this new and inviting space.”
