All Public Schools Closed Thursday, Jan. 9

The Virgin Islands Department of Education informs students, parents, and guardians that all public schools will be closed on Thursday, Jan. 9 as the territory observes the day as a local holiday, following the announcement by Governor Albert Bryan Jr.
In alignment with a national declaration from President Joseph R. Biden, this day will honor the legacy of former President James Earl “Jimmy” Carter Jr.
As a government agency, the Virgin Islands Department of Education complies with all official local holidays issued by Executive Order. Public schools will reopen on Friday, Jan. 10 marking the start of the 3rd Marking Period and 2nd Semester.
Additionally, VIDE reminds the public that schools in the St. Croix District, which were operating on a modified schedule, will now resume their regular hours starting Friday, Jan. 10:
  • Eulalie Rivera PreK-8 School
  • St. Croix Central High School
  • St. Croix Educational Complex High School
