In collaboration with the Bureau of School Construction and Maintenance, under the direction of Executive Director Craig Benjamin, the VIDE will conduct a comprehensive walkthrough and system test of the newly installed air conditioning units at SCEC on Wednesday, Oct. 29. This walkthrough will include the designated electrical contractor and is a critical step in ensuring that all systems are fully operational and meet safety and performance standards.

The results of this test will directly inform the department’s next steps in the implementation of the full-day instructional schedule, which is slated to resume on Monday, Nov. 3, for the St. Croix District High Schools.

Ensuring a safe and comfortable learning environment for students and staff remains a top priority for the Virgin Islands Department of Education. The Department appreciates the patience and cooperation of students, parents, faculty, and the wider community as it works diligently to restore normal operations.

Upon completion of the scheduled walkthrough on Oct. 29, the Department will provide a follow-up update to inform the public of the findings and the official status of the transition back to full-day instruction.

VIDE extends its gratitude to the Bureau of School Construction and Maintenance and contractors for their continued partnership and commitment to improving school conditions across the territory. The Department also recognizes the collaboration and preparation efforts of the St. Croix District leadership, principals, and school teams, whose continued support is vital to ensuring a smooth transition to full-day operations.
