Police Investigate Reported Aggravated Rape of inor on St. Thomas

The Virgin Islands Police Department is investigating a reported aggravated rape involving a minor, the department reported.

Detectives and officers responded to Roy Lester Schneider Hospital around 5 p.m. Saturday after receiving a report of a sexual assault. Police said they made contact with the minor female victim and her mother at the hospital.

According to preliminary information, the incident occurred inside the victim’s residence between 11 p.m. Friday and 3 a.m. Saturday. The victim reported that the suspect, an adult male known to her family, used physical force during the assault, police said.

Medical personnel were notified, and the victim was advised of available support services and resources, police said.

The case is being handled by the Domestic Violence Unit. Police said no additional details will be released because of the sensitive nature of the incident and to protect the victim’s privacy.
