Jan. 18, 2008 — The Central Labor Council of the Virgin Islands will have a march and rally on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Jan 21.
The day is dedicated to remembering King, who was born on Jan. 15, 1929, and led the fight for civil rights in the 1960s. Monday is the federal holiday marking the 79th anniversary of King's birth.
The CLC includes all the major labor unions in the territory. This is the 15th annual MLK Day march and rally for the CLC.
Scheduled to start at 10 a.m., the march begins at the eastern Plaza Extra grocery store. From there they will march to Island Center, where they will hold the rally. The rally is to begin at 11 a.m.
All are welcome to come and march in solidarity.
