Woman Arrested in Domestic Violence Incident After Fleeing from Police

A woman involved in a domestic violence dispute on Aug. 30 turned herself into authorities on Sept. 3 after evading law enforcement for several days.

According to the Virgin Islands Police Department (VIPD), officers responded to a 911 call reporting a domestic disturbance at a residence in Mary’s Fancy, St. Croix. Upon arrival, the victim informed officers that he and his girlfriend, identified as Danielle Kearns, had a verbal altercation, during which Kearns allegedly slapped and strangled him.

Despite multiple attempts to locate Kearns, she remained at large, prompting the issuance of an all-points bulletin by the 911 Emergency Call Center. Public alerts were also circulated through local media outlets.

On Sept. 3, Kearns voluntarily appeared at the Wilbur H. Francis Command Police Station around 4:50 p.m. She was arrested after being informed of rights, though she declined to make a statement.

Kearns has been charged with second-degree assault under the Domestic Violence statute and was transported to the John Bell Correctional Facility. Her advice of rights hearing is scheduled for Sept. 4 at 9:00 a.m. in Superior Court.
