Burglary Suspect Under Arrest Following Search Warrant

On Dec. 31, 2025, at about 10 a.m., 27-year-old Vernon Sackey Jr. was apprehended and transported to the Wilbur H. Francis Command Police Station, where he was advised of his Miranda Rights. Sackey Jr. was placed under arrest, booked, and was unable to post bail, reported the Virgin Islands Police Department.

The arrest was in connection with a burglary in May 2025, where the 911 Emergency Call Center received a report of a disturbance in progress at Bethlehem Village Housing. Upon the arrival of the responding officers, they made contact with the victim, who stated that Sackey Jr., whom she has an existing restraining order against, came to her apartment without her permission. The victim told officers that Sackey Jr. had pried open her window and pointed a firearm at her and other occupants inside her apartment, according to the police report.

Since the occurrence, numerous attempts were made to apprehend Sackey Jr., with negative results. An arrest warrant was then signed by the Honorable Magistrate Judge of the Superior Court for Sackey Jr.’s arrest for burglary in the first degree- DV. His bail was set at $100,000.

Following his arrest, he was remanded to the care and custody of the John Bell Correctional Facility pending his advice of rights hearing.
