Judge Says Wrongful Death Claim Can Proceed in UVI Post-Fete Shooting

The 2013 shooting death of a man who showed up for a tramp and dance party can be heard by a jury as a matter of wrongful death. This after a judge in the St. Croix Superior Court rejected a motion by the University of the Virgin Islands to have a civil claim of negligence resolved by a judge.

UVI Employee Dies from COVID-19 in Kentucky

Jason Brewer, director of the Center for Student Success at the University of the Virgin Islands, died from COVID-19 in Kentucky, the university announced. Brewer left the territory on March 23 and was in Kentucky from March 24 until his death.

UVI Explains Transition to Online Learning at Packed Virtual Town Hall

Church of God Academy Ranks No. 1 in STX MATHCOUNTS

Four schools competed in a rigorous display of mathematical talent in four rounds of individual and team work as they vied for first place, but it was the Church of God Academy students who took the ultimate prize in the MATHCOUNTS competition. Held in the Great Hall at the University of the Virgin Islands, Albert Sheen Campus on St. Croix on Thursday, Church of God Holiness Academy, Good Hope Country Day School, Ricardo Richards Elementary School, and John H. Woodson Jr. High School students came prepared with winning as their only option.

Volunteers Needed for STX Mangrove Cleanup on Saturday

The hurricanes of 2017 put a lot of debris into the territory’s shoreline mangroves where it remains to this day and volunteers are needed to help clear it out. On Saturday the third annual “Great Mangrove Cleanup” will be held at Salt River Bay.

Volunteers Sought for Large-Scale Mangrove Cleanups on Each Island

A large-scale community cleanup of the St. Thomas East End Reserve is now expanding to include Salt River, St. Croix and Coral Bay, St. John and seeks community-minded volunteers on each island.
