Alert: LBJ Pump Station Sewer Line Repaired

June 15, 2006 — The V.I. Waste Management Authority advises Christiansted residents that the repairs to the LBJ force main line were completed late Wednesday evening and bypassing over Long Reef was ceased at approximately 11:30 p.m. One of the VIWMA's Emergency Task Order contractors, General Engineering Corporation, along with the authority's Divisions of Wastewater and Engineering, worked diligently to complete repairs to the line.
Approximately one length of the LBJ force main was replaced with PVC 24-inch piping. This portion of the force main line carries sewage from Christiansted town and surrounding areas to the Figtree Pump Station.
The VIWMA reminds all residents with impacted immune systems to avoid the area until it has been deemed safe by the Department of Planning and Natural Resources.
For more information, please contact the VIWMA's Office of Compliance Programs at 773-1290 ext. 2228.
