Navy Ensign Llewellyn E. Challenger Jr./St. Thomas
July 18, 2007 (Fleet Hometown News) – Navy Ensign Llewellyn E. Challenger Jr., recently completed the four-year officer development program at the U. S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md.
Challenger learned basic skills in seamanship, navigation, infantry drill, marksmanship and sailing. Throughout four years at the Naval Academy, he studied courses in engineering, science, mathematics, humanities and social science while undergoing extensive training in leadership, discipline, athletics and character development. The ensign also fulfilled the community relations requirements.
All Naval Academy graduates receive a Bachelor of Science degree upon completion of their four-year training. The Naval Academy's mission is to develop midshipmen morally, mentally and physically to produce combat leaders of character to the Navy and Marine Corps.
He is the son of Audrey Challenger of St. Thomas, V. I. and Llewellyn E. Challenger Sr. of St. Thomas, V. I.
Challenger is a 2000 graduate of Charlotte Amalie High School, St. Thomas.
Air Force 2nd Lt. Morgan Callender/St. Thomas
July 28, 2007 (Army & Air Force Hometown News) – Air Force 2nd Lt. Morgan Callender has arrived for duty at Tyndall Air Force Base, Panama City, Fla.
Callender, an air battle manager, is assigned to the 325th Air Control Squadron.
He is the son of Janis P. Callender of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. His wife, Nailah, is the daughter of Glen and Lois Felix of Estate Tutu 173-322, St. Thomas.
The lieutenant graduated in the year 2000 from Charlotte Amalie High School, St. Thomas, and received a bachelor's degree in 2007 from Georgia State University, Atlanta.
