Military News of Virgin Islanders – June 2008

Army National Guard Pvt. Raphael G. Dalmida/St. John
June 1, 2008 (Army & Air Force Hometown News) – Army National Guard Pvt. Raphael G. Dalmida has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.
During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values and physical fitness. He received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, the military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches and field training exercises.
He is the son of Raphael Jones of Solomon St., Eastover, S.C., and Barbara Dalmida of Coral Bay, St. John, Virgin Islands.
Dalmida is a 2005 graduate of Lower Richland High School, Hopkins, S.C.
Army National Guard Pvt. Nya N. Paul/St. Thomas/St. John
June 5, 2008 (Army & Air Force Hometown News) – Army National Guard Pvt. Nya N. Paul has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.
During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches and field training exercises.
She is the daughter of Edward Albertha of St. John, Virgin Islands, and sister of Alicia Martinez of Nadir, St. Thomas, V.I.
Army Pvt. Mara E. Joseph/St. Thomas
June 10, 2008 (Army & Air Force Hometown News) – Army Pvt. Mara E. Joseph has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.
During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values and physical fitness. She received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches and field training exercises.
She is the daughter of Iris Lynch of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, and sister of Ingrid Gregoire of Armond St., Uniondale, N.Y.
Army National Guard Pvt. Shalanda N. Clarke/St. Croix
June 24, 2008 (Army & Air Force Hometown News) – Army National Guard Pvt. Shalanda N. Clarke has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.
During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values and physical fitness. She received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches and field training exercises.
She is the daughter of Angelica Smithen of John F. Kennedy, Christiansted, Virgin Islands.
Clarke is a 2007 graduate of St. Croix Central High School, V.I.
