An inmate at the Bureau of Corrections, 18-year-old Trevorne Lake, was arrested in prison and charged with first-degree assault and possession of an unlicensed firearm in connection with a July 2010 shooting that happened in Estate Smith Bay near the Dominoes Gas Station.
Lake’s arrest was based on a warrant issued by VI Superior Court Magistrate Alan Smith.
According to the police, officers were dispatched to a report of shots fired. Witnesses in the area said a suspect, later identified as Lake, fired shots at a white vehicle that was traveling in the area. The witnesses also said the suspect fled on foot in a northwest direction.
Lake was arrested shortly before 11 a.m. Friday. His bail was set at $100,000 and he was returned to the custody of the Bureau of Corrections.
At the time of this arrest, Lake was awaiting trial on a charge of first-degree murder in connection with the Jan. 13 shooting death of 29-year-old Rashaile Ja in Estate Smith Bay.
