Police Investigate Two Weekend Robberies

Police on St. Thomas are investigating two first degree robberies that occurred during the weekend. No injuries were reported in either case, the V.I. Police Department reported Monday.

The first robbery occurred shortly after 9 p.m. Saturday at the Golden Dragon restaurant on Kronpridsens Gade. Two unknown suspects, dressed in black with bandanas covering their faces, entered the restaurant, demanded money and pointed a firearm at the business owners. One of the suspects took several hundred dollars from the cash register and robbed a patron of an undisclosed amount of cash. Both suspects fled the area on foot in an unknown direction.

The second robbery occurred shortly after 8 p.m. Sunday at the Two Fantastic Bar in Estate Anna’s Fancy. Two suspects gained entry through a back door and one of the suspects, armed with a gun, demanded that the victim give him money from the cash register. The victim handed the suspect an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspects robbed the patrons of their cell phones, cash, and credit cards before fleeing the area on foot in a northerly direction.

The cases are being followed up by the Criminal Investigation Bureau detectives. Anyone with information regarding these cases can call detectives at 714-9805 or 714-9834 or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-TIPS.
