Rental Vehicle Carjacked

Police on St. Thomas are investigating a reported carjacking early Sunday in which a rental car was taken while a passenger was in the car.

No one was injured during the crime.

The victim told officers at the Richard Callwood (Zone A) Command that about 2:30 a.m. Sunday she stopped her rental car near an open business on Kronprinsens Gade and went inside to use the restroom. The driver left the keys in the ignition and a male passenger in the front seat. When she returned the passenger told her a male with a black handgun told him to get out of the vehicle and then drove the vehicle away in an eastward direction.

The license number of the vehicle was TEL-316.

Police issued an all-points bulletin on the vehicle and the case is under active investigation by the Criminal Investigation Bureau detectives.
