Veteran Antonio Torres Nieves, also known as “Tony,” "Toñin" or “Viejo,” of Estate Calqouhoun died on Nov. 17 at Gov. Juan F Luis Hospital and Medical Center. He was 76 years old.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Praxedes Nieves and Cecilia Torres Nieves.
He is survived by his, wife: Aida Ramirez Nieves; daughters: Cecilia Roman, Nancy Nieves, Angelita Vanderbiezen and Cinthia M. Sanes; sons: Rafael Nieves, Derick Nieves, David Mills, Victor M. Torres, Luis Torres and Leslie Farrelly; grandchildren: Rae-chel Ann Miller, Jo-Anna Legrand, Edward Nieves, Xiomara Roman, Jason Roman, Ariana Roman, Henry Naar Jr., Jeffery Naar, Gregory Naar, Suliani Vanderbiezen, Stephanie Vanderbiezen, Sophia Anais Nieves, Sebastian Nieves, Lexus Mills, Jonah Mills, Victor E. Torres, Alayla Torres, Jamaris Washshah, Layalie Washshah and Cynthia T. Torres; sisters: Josephine Nieves, Ibia G. Ventura, Anna A. Deering, Norma I. Nieves and Beatriz "Emmy" Majesty; and brothers: Carlos M. Nieves and Angel E. Nieves.
He is also survived mother-in-law, Brunilda Ramirez; daughters-in-law: Janice Nieves, Cheron Nieves, Theresa Mills, Aracelis Torres, Connie Torres and Alicia Farrelly; sons-in-law: Israel Roman and Sammuel Sanes; brothers-in-law: Arturo Ventura, Williams E. Deering, Brian Majesty, Justino Ramirez and Eric Ramirez; sisters-in-law: Felicita Nieves, Dora Nieves, Carmen Mohansingh, Tamara Ramirez and Carol Velazquez; special friends: Jose Carlos Acosta, Augustin "Chico" Williams, Patrick "Benjie" Mason, Ursula Felix, Ellen Schuster and Bansraj Mohansingh; and other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
There will be a first viewing at the James Memorial Funeral Home Inc. from 1:30-3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 22.
A viewing will take place at 9 a.m. and a funeral service at 10 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 24, at Iglesia Episcopal San Francisco de Asis/St. Francis Episcopal Church. Cremation will follow.
