V.I. Insurance Association Elects New Officers, Board Members

At its most recent meeting held on May 26, the Virgin Islands Insurance Association (VIIA) elected the following members to serve a term of office for the next two years: Wayne Harty of Inter Ocean Insurance Agency, president; Sherie Charles-Rogers, of Family Insurance Agency, vice president; Monique Chetram of Theodore Tunick and Company, secretary; and Leroy Walker of Inter Ocean Insurance Agency, treasurer. Also elected to serve on the board are: Mark Braddell of Great Lakes Insurance and Dornell “Dee” Crawford of Beacon Insurance Agency.
The association, formed in 1983, having as its members a unified group of property and casualty insurance agencies, brokers, domestic insurers and independent adjusting firms, aims to represent the local insurance community and businesses by lobbying for appropriate legislation, stimulating public awareness and further educating its members and the public of the benefits that may be derived from insurance.
Newly elected president Wayne Harty said there are many challenges to be met and pledged that he and his team will work diligently to tackle them in the best interest of the industry and the general public.
