Suspect in 2015 Homicide Extradited to V.I.

K’moi Corraspe has been extradited from New York to the U.S. Virgin Islands to face murder charges in the 2015 shooting death of Kadeem John, the V.I. Police Department reported Tuesday.

On Dec. 10, 2015, citizens reported shots fired in the Contant Knolls housing community. Arriving at the scene, officers found the body of an African American male, later identified as John, who had suffered a gunshot wound to his upper body. Emergency medical technicians pronounced John dead on the scene.

Corraspe was being held without bail in New York State after a plainclothes police detail stopped him this summer with two females after entering a building with a clearly posted “No Trespassing” sign. After running the background check on all three individuals through their local system and the National Crime Information Center, the White Plains police arrested him on an outstanding Virgin Islands warrant for first-degree murder.

Gov. Kenneth Mapp executed an extradition request on July 30. Corraspe was returned to the territory Tuesday and placed under arrest pursuant to the warrant. He is charged with first-degree murder and was turned over to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advice of rights hearing.
