Department of Human Services Offers Summer Camp Subsidies

The Office of Childcare and Regulatory Services has funds available to defray the cost associated with the fees for summer camp, according to a press release issued by the Virgin Islands Department of Human Services (DHS).

“We remain supportive of families and parents in our determination that children’s summer experiences are as worthy as that in school.  We advocate for structured and safe summer camps that offer a variety of activities to include tutorial and literacy, sporting, personal and group development, vocational skills and cultural engagement,” said Commissioner Designee Felecia Blyden.

Every summer, DHS offers subsidies to parents who meet the eligibility criteria to participate in the program.  Applicants must be working at least 30 hours weekly, enrolled in school or a training program.  The children must be between three and twelve years old, or special needs children until 18 years old.
