The Virgin Islands outlasted the Bahamas, 63-56, in front of the faithful and improved its record to 3-0 at the 2017 Centrobasket for senior women. Natalie Day was her usual self with 22 points and nine rebounds. Imani Tate was the player of the game with 20 points, six rebounds, four assists and four steals, while Victoria Hamilton added seven points and ten rebounds.
What’s next: Since 2004 senior women play against Jamaica has been tough. Of the seven meetings, Jamaica Senior Women have won six with the V.I. (3-0) lone win coming at the 2014 Centrobasket that was held in Monterrey, Mexico. Jamaica (2-1) went on to win two more after that; however, those games were not on St. Thomas.
Tonight, in front of thousands, the V.I. team will exact revenge and say in one voice “AmeriCup here we come!” at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, July 15, when V.I. Senior Women play the ladies from Jam Rock.
