Unrecognized Body Found in Burning Car on STX

The body of an unidentified person was found, burned beyond recognition, Monday night in a vehicle fire in Williams Delight, Frederiksted.

According to the V.I. Police Department, the 911 center received a report at 11:03 p.m. Monday reporting a vehicle fire on First Street in Williams Delight. Fire Department personnel and VIPD units responded.

Upon arrival fire personnel extinguished the fire and discovered a burned body in a compact vehicle.

The Criminal Investigations Bureau gathered samples for DNA and forensic testing in order to identify the victim and the vehicle.

The Criminal Investigation Bureau urged anyone with information on the incident to call the the CIB tip-line at 469-475-3871, the CIB at 340-778-2211, the 911 call center, or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-2228477.
