STT Man Killed at Marine Terminal

A man identified by next of kin as 29-year-old Curtis Q. Frederick was shot and killed Saturday evening in Charlotte Amalie.

It was the 15th homicide in the territory since the beginning of the year, the seventh on St. Thomas.

According to the V.I. Police Department, at about 11:25 p.m. Saturday the 911 center received a call reporting shots fired in the area Edward Wilmoth Blyden Marine Terminal. Officers from the Major Crimes Unit responded and found an unresponsive black male, later identified as Frederick, lying on the ground next to a U.S. Custom vehicle.

Major Crimes is investigating the case and urged anyone with information regarding the incident to call 340-774-2211, ext. 5569, or 340-714-9830. They also can call 911 or the anonymous tip service Crime Stopper USVI at 1-800-222-8477 (1-800-222-TIPS.)

Information supplied to Crime Stoppers that helps result in the closing of a case can qualify the caller for an anonymous cash reward.
