National Guard Association Gives Lt. Col. B. Edwards the Patrick Henry Award

Lt. Col. Beresford Edwards receives The Patrick Henry Award at National Guard Association Conference in Denver, Sept. 1.

Maj. Gen. Donald Dunbar, chairman of the National Guard Association of the United States (NGAUS), and Maj. John Fesler, chairman of the awards committee, gave the Patrick Henry Award to retired Army Lt. Col. Beresford Edwards.

Edwards recently attended the 141st NGAUS Conference held at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver where he received the award on Sunday, Sept. 1.

“I share the Patrick Henry Award with the Virgin Islands Committee for the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserves,” said Edwards. “Without their support, this award would not have been possible.”

Edwards, also serving as the president for the Virgin Islands National Guard Association, was nominated for the award by the Adjutant General of the Virgin Islands National Guard-designee Col. Kodjo Knox-Limbacker in May 2019 for his outstanding performance operating as the state chair of the V.I. committee for the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserves (ESGR) from October 2012 to September 2018.

The Patrick Henry Award, created in 1989, was designed to provide recognition to local officials and civic leaders, who in a position of great responsibility distinguished themselves with outstanding and exceptional service to the Armed Forces of the United States, the National Guard or NGAUS.
