Two Sunny Isle Businesses Hit by Armed Robbers

Two businesses at the Sunny Isle Shopping Center on St. Croix were robbed by armed men three hours apart on Thursday, the V.I. Police Department reported.

The reports do not suggest that the perpetrators were the same in the two incidents.

Champs Shore Store
According to police, at about 6:40 p.m. Thursday the 911 call center received a report of a robbery in progress at the Champs shoe store in the Sunny Isle Shopping Center.

Investigation revealed that two masked males with guns entered the store and demanded money. The suspects pointed their firearms at employees and directed them t open the cash registers. An employee opened the register and the suspects took an undisclosed amount of money, then fled the area.

Pizza Hut
At 9:04 p.m. Thursday, 911 received a report of a robbery at Pizza Hut, also in the Sunny Isle Shopping Center.

According to reports, an unknown male entered the restaurant brandishing a firearm and demanded the manager open the cash register. The manager complied, and the man took the money out of the register and left the area.

The man was described as being 6 feet tall, between 180 and 190 pounds with a dark complexion, dressed in gray Army fatigues, a gray nylon jacket, had white cloth covering his mouth, and a brown backpack.

Both cases are under investigation.
