The Virgin Islands Port Authority (VIPA) has approved a request from Road Town Fast Ferry to transport cargo from St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands to Tortola, British Virgin Islands, starting Saturday, May 9. Road Town Fast Ferry will make cargo-only trips between St. Thomas and Tortola on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The request was granted after consultation and written approval was provided by the BVI government, according to VIPA Executive Director Carlton Dowe.
The ferry will clear customs in Cruz Bay, St. John and will arrive at the Edward W. Blyden IV Marine Terminal at 9:30 a.m. on St. Thomas to pick up cargo and supplies. The cargo shipments will be prearranged and delivered to the ferry for pick up. The captain and crew on the ferry will not disembark on St. Thomas, and there will be no passengers allowed on the vessel as BVI’s borders are still closed to travelers due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The ferry will depart for Tortola at 11 a.m.
