Enighed Pond Gravel Lot to Reopen July 1 With Reduced Parking Rates

New Enighed Pond gravel parking lot on St. John

The Virgin Islands Port Authority will reopen its Enighed Pond Gravel Parking Lot adjacent to the Theovald Moorhead Dock and Terminal on Wednesday, July 1, with a reduced parking fee structure. The parking rate will be $8 per day, pending the installation of parking equipment that is expected to be installed by the end of the summer. Thereafter, the rates will be as follows:

– First Half Hour Free
– 31 minutes – 1 hour $3
– 1-2 hours $5
– 2-3 hours $7
– 3-10 hours $11
– 10-24 hours $14
– Lost Ticket $15 per day
– Monthly Parking $165 per month

The rates were reduced to meet the concerns of the St. John Coastal Zone Management Commission and residents of St. John after a meeting was held with the CZM Commission on June 2, said VIPA Executive Director Carlton Dowe.

The lot currently has 200 parking spaces available and will be open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.

VIPA recently expanded and repaired the lot and allowed it to be used free of charge pending the completion of the improvements. During the period of free use, the lot has been re-populated with derelict vehicles. VIPA has tagged all abandoned vehicles and requests that owners remove them from the Enighed Pond Gravel Lot before July 1. Any cars left in the lot after that time will be removed at the owner’s expense.

Free short-term parking will be available at VIPA’s parking lot at the Victor W. Sewer Marine Facility when the construction of the new U.S. Customs and Border Protection facility is completed, which is anticipated to be later this summer.
