Governor Albert Bryan Jr. attended the swearing-in ceremony for new Public Works Commissioner Derek Gabriel, who was administered the oath by Virgin Islands Supreme Court Chief Justice Rhys Hodge on Thursday, June 3, at the University of the Virgin Islands, St. Thomas.

Commissioner Gabriel takes the helm of the V.I. Department of Public Works, which currently has a dozen major road projects underway and at various stages of completion across the territory.

Last week, Gabriel held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the completed Main Street Enhancement project on St. Thomas.

The new commissioner’s wife, Keli, and daughter, Savanah, held the Bible for him while he took the oath.

The Bryan-Roach Administration is committed to transparency, stabilizing the economy, restoring trust in the government and ensuring that recovery projects are completed as quickly as possible.
