Two Assaults Under Investigation on St. Thomas

The Schneider Regional Medical Center treated a woman for a gunshot to the foot and a male victim who had suffered minor stab wounds in what police said appear to be the two related incidents on St. Thomas shortly after midnight Wednesday.

In both cases the victims were described as “reluctant to speak to police.”

According to police, at 12:15 a.m. Wednesday the 911 emergency call center was notified of a female who had a gunshot wound to the right foot. The victim was reluctant to speak to police about the incident. Officers traveled to the scene of the incident – the trash dump site in Estate Nazareth – and found evidence of the shooting.

At 4:54 a.m., the 911 emergency call center was notified of an injured person at the hospital. The male victim, who suffered minor stab wounds, also did not want to speak to officers. The investigation revealed the male was injured in the same incident as the female gunshot wound victim at the dump site in Estate Nazareth.

The police did not identify either victim in accordance with department policy.

Police urged anyone with information about the case to call 911, the Crime TipLine at 340-778-4950, or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-8477 (1-800-222-TIPS). Reports to Crime Stoppers that help resolve a crime can earn the caller an anonymous cash reward.
