DOE’s Division of Cultural Education Schedules Virgin Islands History Month Activities

U.S. Virgin Islands Department of Education

The Virgin Islands Department of Education’s Division of Virgin Islands Cultural Education will host a series of activities in celebration of Virgin Islands History Month in March.

The theme for this year’s celebration is “Step Into Heritage in Both Mind and Space.”

In addition to a calendar of virtual events, outlined below, students are invited to participate in the #VIBigTreeChallenge and the #VIHistoricalSpacesChallenge. They are reminded to find details of both challenges in their department-issued email account.

On March 11, local ecologist and scholar Olasse Davis gave a live presentation on the “Remarkable Trees” of the Virgin Islands – featuring a 300-year-old tree near Basin Triangle on St. Croix.

All virtual activities will be streamed live on the Virgin Islands Department of Education’s Facebook page.
