Sondra Milliken Catts, 93 years young, passed away suddenly on Sunday, April 24, in Savannah, Ga. Sondra and Jack, her husband, were long-time residents of Green Cay on St. Croix. They explored the Caribbean in their sailboat and throughout the American West in a camper van, Sondra with her paint brushes and Jack with a fishing rod.
When Jack passed away, Sondra remained on St. Croix for a decade, painting, doing water aerobics and tai chi, volunteering and lunching with friends. She was Volunteer of the Year for the Saint Croix Environmental Association, a founding member of the Saint Croix Palletters (a plein air group who paint the island’s landscapes and landmarks), a regular guide at a local Estate Whim Museum, a participating artist with The Caribbean Museum Center for the Arts and a devoted member of the Unitarian Universalist Church on St Croix.
