Pedestrian Accident Under Investigation on St. Croix

A vehicle collided with a pedestrian Friday at 8:15 p.m. on St. Croix, according to the Traffic Investigation Bureau.

The bureau was notified by the 911 Emergency Call Center and was dispatched to the Northside Road Route 75, in the area of Quality Grocery & Deli in Estate La Gand Princesse, the V.I. Police Department said.

When they arrived at the scene, police found a man lying on the sidewalk of the northern part of the eastbound lane, the VIPD said. The vehicle that allegedly hit the man was parked in front of the Quality Grocery & Deli.

An investigation revealed that the pedestrian was crossing the road from north to south, and the driver hit the pedestrian while heading east.

The pedestrian is currently receiving treatment at the Juan F. Luis Hospital for life-threatening head injuries, the VIPD said. Police continue to investigate the case.
