Contractor Arrested For Second Time This Week

A St. Thomas business owner was arrested and charged for the second time this week Friday for falsely promising to build prefabricated houses.

Anson Gallaway, owner of the construction company GHL Home Innovations LLC, allegedly took more than $200,000 from victims in St. Thomas to construct a prefabricated home but did not fulfill the agreement, police said. He was arrested for that offense Tuesday. He quickly made his $51,000 bail but was arrested again Friday for the same crime in almost identical circumstances in St. Croix, said Economic Crimes Commander Deborah Hodge.

“They are exactly the same charges but different victims and location,” she told the Source.

Police said Gallaway has a business license that does not authorize him to sell such homes. Gallaway allegedly billed his St. Croix clients for $51,200.

The new bail was set at $20,000 dollars for the alleged crime. Unable to post bail, Gallaway was remanded to the Alexander A. Farrelly Criminal Complex in St. Thomas pending an advice of rights hearing.
