My Brother’s Workshop and Fintrac Join Social Justice Initiative

The Virgin Islands Justice Initiative is a new legal nonprofit organization, which was established by local attorneys with a passion for social justice. “Our first initiative is a modest but important one. We are partnering with My Brother’s Workshop to provide expungement services to some of the young people in their program who need a clean record for employment purposes,” said Alex Golubitsky, chairman of the Virgin Islands Justice Initiative Board of Directors.

And in the spirit of positive corporate collaboration, Fintrac Inc. announced that it will equal Alpine Securities USVI’s contribution to the crowdfunding campaign, which means that all community donations made towards the non-profit’s $15,000 autumn fundraising goal (see https://chuffed.org/project/harvestfestival4vijustice) will now be matched.

“The VI Justice Initiative will fill a gap in the services available to Virgin Islanders,” said Casey Payton, executive director, “by providing free legal representation focused on economic and restorative justice through expungements, high-impact litigation and class actions.”
