35th Legislature Schedules Swearing-in Events

Senators-elect of the 35th Legislature of the Virgin Islands invites the community to the swearing-in events planned throughout the territory next week.

At 3 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 8, 2023, a pre-swearing-in ecumenical service will be held at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church on St. John. It will be immediately followed by a meet and greet in the Legislature Annex in Cruz Bay, St. John.

At 8 a.m., Monday, Jan. 9, 2023, senators will also attend a pre-swearing-in ecumenical service at the Nisky Moravian Church, St. Thomas. Immediately thereafter, members will proceed to Emancipation Garden for the official swearing-in of the 35th Legislature, which is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.

After that, the senators will proceed to the Earle B. Ottley Legislative Hall in the Capitol Building for the initial session to officially organize the leadership and committee memberships of the 35th Legislature.

At 10 a.m., a post-swearing-in ecumenical service will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2023, at the City of Refuge Worship Center on St. Croix. It will be followed by a meet and greet at noon on the Anne E. Abramson Pier, Frederiksted.
