The 35th Legislature will convene in a Committee of the Whole Hearing to receive testimony on the following zoning requests:

BLOCK I

10 a.m. to Noon

Bill No. 35-0052 — An Act amending Official Zoning Map No. SJZ-3 for the island of St. John to change the zoning designation of Parcel No. 14 Rem Estate Carolina, Coral Bay Quarter, St. John from R-2 (Residential-Low Density-One and Two Family) to B-2 (Business-Secondary/Neighborhood)

Bill No. 35-0053 — An Act granting a zoning use variance for Parcel No. 84 Estate Contant, No. 7B, Southside Quarter, St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, from the R-3 (Residential-Medium Density) zoning designation to allow for offices

BLOCK II

10 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Bill No. 35-0024 — An Act granting a zoning use variance for Parcel No. 5C Estate Anna’s Retreat No. 1 New Quarter, St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, to allow for dwellings

Bill No. 35-0040 — An Act granting a zoning variance for Parcels Nos. A1-24 & A1-25 Estate Thomas, No. 6K New Quarter, St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, to allow an office, 2 one-bedroom apartments, flex space, gym, 13 parking spaces (1 handicapped), cistern and grey water cistern and accessory building for generator and garage space

Committee on Homeland Security, Justice, and Public Safety

Agenda:

The committee has scheduled a legislative hearing to vet bills assigned to the committee and to hear overview testimony from Virgin Islands Police Department, the Office of the Territorial Public Defender and the Office of Gun Violence Prevention.

BLOCK I

10 a.m.

The committee will receive overview testimony, from the Office of the Territorial Public defender regarding, yet not limited to, updates on the office’s operations, capital projects and initiatives.

Lunch: Noon – 1 p.m.

BLOCK II

1 p.m. – 3 p.m.

Bill No. 35-0013 — An Act amending Title 20, Virgin Islands Code, part 11, chapter 35, relating to the issuance of operators’ licenses and identification cards to allow applicants to obtain limited local-purpose identification cards and operators’ licenses without providing certain federally required documentation

BLOCK III

3 p.m.

The committee will receive overview testimony for the Virgin Islands Police Department and the Office of Gun Violence Prevention not limited to updates on the department’s operations, capital projects, and initiatives.

9:30 a.m.

Committee on Disaster Recovery, Infrastructure and Planning

The committee has scheduled a meeting to receive status updates on all anticipated and underway disaster recovery: related projects, programs and funding.
