The owner of a Christiansted nightclub was shot to death Friday and found on the roadside just outside his bar, police said Saturday.

Emergency responders found Emmanuel Premier, 50, dead near the entrance to his establishment, the Big Master Night Club on Prince Street and Strand Street, at around 9:50 p.m., police said.

Premier, born on Christmas Eve in Haiti in 1973, had suffered multiple gunshot wounds. Witnesses told police they’d seen Premier engaged in a physical altercation moments before he was shot.

Premier, of Williams Delight, had also run Distractions VIP Bar & Restaurant on Queen Street in Frederiksted.

Police is asking anyone with information about the shooting to call an anonymous tip line at 340-778-4850, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222 8477, or 911.
