Stephanie Linda Amory Dies at 70

The family is deeply saddened to announce the passing of our beloved Stephanie Linda Amory, affectionately known as “Stephie.” She entered fully into the presence of the Lord on Saturday, June 8, at her home. She was 70 years old.

Stephanie, known to many as “Ms. Amory,” had a great love for children!  This was evidenced by her teaching and nurturing thousands of students in the kindergarten and first grades at the Leonard Dober Elementary School for 27 years. She served on the Carnival Prince and Princess Committee, and was a chaperone for the Prince and Princess contestants. Stephanie was an active member of the Memorial Moravian Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher, counter and board member. For a short time, she also moonlighted at Woolworth’s Department Store.

She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Eleanora Robles; her parents: Ashley Williams and Bernice Estrill White; and her brother, Barry White.

She is lovingly survived by her husband, Lowell “Ashes” Amory I; sons: Shamour Amory and Lowell Amory II; adopted son, Simba Akins; daughter-in-law, Shani Amory; grandchildren: Sy’Rai, Saiire, Sianii, Ce’Amba, Lowell III and T’Mari Amory; great-grandchildren: Lukoi D. Chung Jr. and Journee’ L. Williams; stepfather, Alphonso White Sr.; and siblings: Ashley Williams Jr., Cheryl White, Ronald White, Yvonne Gordon (Adrian), Germaine Auguste (Reginald) and Alphonso White Jr. (Andrea).

She is also survived by adopted sisters: Pastor Elva Richards-Goodwin, Shirley Richards and Monaly Richards (caretaker); aunts: Elaine Eggleston, Madia Haynes, Harriet Clarke and Beryl Moorehead; uncles: Habib Tiwoni and Orville Haynes; nieces: Chaka Williams, Shemise Williams, Reneice Williams, Leah Palmer (Dwayne) and Alexandra Have (Benjamin); nephews: Brandon Byrd (Sherie), Davon Livingston (Danielle), Troy Livingston and Christian Auguste; special great-niece/caretaker, Kamille Harvey; and great-nieces, RaeNique Warrell, Kali Joseph, Aria Lockhart and Angelea Palmer; and by great-nephews: Dylan Byrd, Cameron Byrd and Devon Livingston Jr.

She is also survived by cousins: Alva George, Tecumta Tiwoni, Hakim Tiwoni, Elvin Eggleston, Mark Haynes, Marlon Brin, Eloise Williams Bonaparte, Esther Williams, Michelle Williams, Denise Williams, Melinda Eggleston, Monica Eggleston, Germaine Turnbull Morrish, Nydia Haynes, Nicolette Haynes, Renee Haynes Hansen, Tekondah Tiwoni, Tshonah Tiwoni, Tupac Amaru Tiwoni, Molissa Brin, Wayne Anderson, Denise Anderson-Marks, Michel Collins, Paqueta Moorehead, Dale Moorehead, Patrick Jude, Wayne Paris, Natalie Paris, Dwight Estrill, De Shaun Estrill, Ann Morgan, Dwayne Moorehead, LaVerne Adams, Deborah Jennings, Michael Berry, Don Berry, Neil Berry, Lori Cruz and Joseph Berry.

Other survivors include special godchildren: Kajsha “Coolene” Tackie, Sparkle Estrill, Danielle Estrill, Shalia Sheridan, Shadeia Sheridan, Shamiyah Paterson, Kidane Stephens and Asysha Thomas; best friends: Lori Anderson, Eileen Rabsatt and Denise Christian Jackson; as well as many other close friends and family members who include the Amory, Williams, Estrill, Haynes, White, Richards, Oggaro, LeBron, Frett, Pinney, McKay, Harvey and Roberts families.

She also leaves to mourn her former students and more than 100 godchildren.

To honor her legacy, family and friends are invited to share in her “Celebration of Life Service” on Thursday, July 11, at Memorial Moravian Church. The viewing will take place from 9 to 10 a.m., with the funeral service immediately following at 10 a.m.

Interment will be at Eastern Moravian Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements are by Turnbull’s Funeral Home and Crematory Services.
