Firearm Discovered During the Execution of a Search Warrant

During the execution of a search warrant at a residence on St. Croix, a firearm and ammunition were discovered by police officers, the V.I. Police Department reported.

On Sept. 12, at approximately 5:00 a.m., members of the Criminal Investigation Bureau and Special Operations Bureau executed a search warrant at a residence in La Grande Princess. While executing the search warrant, a firearm and ammunition were found in and around the home of Abassi Boston, according to the police report.

The firearm was discovered outside the residence after the officers heard the window open and saw Boston closing it. As they approached the dwelling, the officers saw the firearm in plain sight under the window. Inside, they found a holster on the bed and multiple loaded magazines, which were collected as evidence, the police report stated.

A firearm record check showed that Boston did not have a license to carry a firearm or possess ammunition in the territory. Boston, 26, was advised of his Miranda Rights and placed under arrest for carrying firearms openly or concealed and possession of ammunition, the report stated.

Boston’s bail was set at $50,000, as per the chart. He was booked and unable to post bail. Therefore, he was remanded to the care and custody of the John Bell Correctional Facility pending his advice of rights hearing, it said.
