In an emotional display of support to bring awareness to childhood cancer, the Logan Miracle Foundation hosted a motorcade with more than 100 vehicles participating on St. Croix Sunday.

The motorcade was a procession of vehicles, from jeeps to motorcycles and emergency vehicles, all decorated in orange. The starting point was at the Kingshill Cemetery and led to the Altona Lagoon where a small ceremony was held. There were performances, beverages and other refreshments provided during the ceremony.

Every vehicle in participation contained some type of orange. Whether it was balloons or signs. The full support for the cause was felt. (Source photo by Diana Dias)

Logan Cruz touched many Virgin Islanders during his battle with lymphocytic leukemia. After he succumbed to this vicious disease in 2023, his mother, Anais Cruz, made it her life mission to spread awareness of childhood cancer.

According to the American Childhood Cancer Organization, each year in the United States, there are an estimated 15,780 children between the ages of birth and 19 years of age who are diagnosed with cancer. Approximately 1 in 285 children in the U.S. will be diagnosed with cancer before their 20th birthday. In the Virgin Islands, the awareness of education about childhood cancer is very minimal, Cruz shared.

During the ceremony, Cruz shared words and said, “Logan because of you I know what it means to turn pain into purpose. You have saved many lives and your slogan changed the world. I often ask myself why God had to take you from me to know what my purpose in life is. Why not have you forever and still show me what my mission is. I pray that one day I make peace with losing you because I’m struggling to live a life without the person I was living for.”
