Mavis Lettsome Dies at 78

Relatives and friends are advised of the passing of Mavis Lettsome on Dec. 26, 2024, at at the age of 78.

She is preceded in death by her father, George Farrington, mother, Mary Benjamin, brother, Milford Benjamin, and husband, Ramio “Camay” Lettsome.

Mavis Lettsome is survived by her daughter, DVonette “DeDe”Lettsome, sons, Felix (Simba or Champ), Franklin (Nugget), Freddie (Fuzzy, Two Shoes, Arab) Lettsome, sister, Marlene “Tasha T” Benjamin, step brother, Bishop Kenneth Benjamin, nieces, Jahleba Benjamin, Tahyisha Taylor,Rahkiya Benjamin-Ceide, Shakesha Smith-Greaux, nephews, Tyehimba Richards,Shakeil Smith, Jahoda Benjamin, grandchildren, Justin and Juleeyah Sellers, Simba, Hadiya, Aisha Sellers-Lettsome, Jassiem and Jahya Lettsome, great-grandchildren, Mekhi Sellers, SaMayah and Saron Leyrer, Ka’Trina Shired, Khy’Seem Martin, Adrian Lettsome, Raniyah Dukes, Jonathan, Ch’Nyla, William, Matthew and Judah Sellers, daughters-in-law, Jean Sellers-Lettsome, adopted daughter, Noriece Fisher, sisters-in-law, Anneliesje “Anna” Benjamin, special cousins, Leila and Leon “Hippie” Smith  Pauline Freeman, Valencia and Vernon Scatliffe and special friends, Yvonne Roebuck, Dorothy of Delaware , Vivian of St Croix, Lincoln Gumbs, Stanley Wyatt, Irene R. of St Thomas, and Shannon of Philadelphia.

Her cousins include the children of the late Edwin Freeman: Marva, Merle, Myrthlyn and Marilyn; the children of the late Hilda Mae Scatliffe: Vernon, Verna, Vera, Vida, Vegon and Valencia; the children of the late Olive Smith: Lorna, Linda, Leila, Leburn (Blackie) and Leon (Hippy), and the children of the late Herman Freeman: Patricia, Pauline, Pearlette, Pete and Perry.

Many other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invite to attend first viewing on Friday, Jan. 17 at Celestial Chapel of Dan Hurley Home for Funerals 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 18 at Church of God of Prophecy. Viewing begins 9:00am – 10 a.m. with service to follow at 10 a.m. Interment Eastern Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Dan Hurley Home for Funerals and Cremation Centers of St. Thomas, St. John, and St. Croix.
