At Kazooti Clay Studio you will find Ruth Prager, the artist and owner, hard at work. Her work runs the gamut from functional ware to art objects and from pieces thrown on the potters wheel to slab and hand built objects. Her signature piece is the moisture resistant salt shaker. It really works!
Ruths history in clay dates back to her first experience in 3rd grade which stuck with her for life. Throughout her school years she dabbled in the art of clay and continued dabbling through her years as a corporate employee. She took classes at adult community schools and finally went to the Glassell School of Art in Houston, Texas. It was several years after that that she ditched the corporate rat race and found herself in her own clay studio in Tillett Gardens on the island of St. Thomas.
Come to Kazooti Clay Studio for a unique workshop experience and to add a Kazooti original to your collection or to get that special gift for a friend. Ruth is happy to explain the many different techniques she employees in performing her craft. Be sure to ask what a pugmill is!
Ruths work is also available at the St. John Spice Company on St. John in Wharf Side Village, The Hand Paintd Company on St. Thomas across from Havensight, Dolphin Dreams on St. Thomas in Red Hook at American Yacht Harbor and The Arts and Crafts Coop on St. Thomas across from Emancipation Garden.
